Evaluation
In conclusion, the interactive project was a favorite of mine because
it wasn’t just all about yourself you had to communicate with your client and work
together to get anywhere because without your client you wouldn’t have a site
to work on at all. I was lucky because my client was a friend which made the conversations
much easier as I know Jess as a person. Therefore, it was often easy to receive
feedback and put it straight action as I knew what my friend would want roughly
so I was able to make a website with ease. All I had to do was show the updates
to Jessica as I went along, and she will tell me if I need to change anything
or add anything etc.
There were some problems with communication but that’s because she’s a
busy person and unfortunately, we only managed to meet up in person once. I was
able to still seek out regular consistent feedback. But looking back I wish we would
had used an email thread to communicate with one and another. The reason I didn’t
do that was because I just didn’t think of it so other than texts or calls, we didn’t
really use any other form of communicating and that was the main problem. However,
I still got what my client wanted done so we are both happy and pleased with
the results. The emails would’ve been more effective because unlike texts its
easier to track back through the conversation and find what I would need, just
something to remember for next time.
I wish I did develop the other website template I created using Wix as
well, but I didn’t use my time very effectively due to multiple projects all of
them being so demanding some more than others but I still managed it. This was my
first time using Wix and I had never used anything like it before, but I have
created a website before in high school with the use of coding. Thankfully, I didn’t
have to do that because it’s so easy to use with its simple layouts and big
amount of features you can do anything if you can think of it.
I hope to use the services of Wix again in the future. Other than the
creation of my client’s website, I enjoyed the research the most because I got
to explore lots of various types of websites. I discovered what makes a website
interactive and what good interactivity and bad interactivity was all about. It
was fun and engaging learning about the different stages of the world wide web throughout
the years and how its changed from web 1.0 to web 2.0 and how its developing
into what could be web 3.0 with all the Ai and Chatbots on the web.
I decided to compare my clients home page and social media/contact links to another artists portfolio website. To see how similar, they are or how different they are between each other!
Home page:
(2020)
When I compare my client's website to Steves website here, there's no competition at all unfortunately. His is so much more advanced and professional looking, bearing in mind I've never done this before so it's all new to me. But the home page is so much better because it's not blank as much as mine is this due to lots of slides of pictures and a better use of colours. I like how the menu follows the page as you scroll down, it's very beautiful with the layout and design.
Contact & Social Links:
Now the contact pages are very similar, they are both at the bottom of the page with social media links. Steve's has much more than the one I did with just Instagram and the Facebook page for the tattoo parlor but that's down to where my client is with her career etc. Everything is similar except the menu bar at the top that also includes a link to a contacts page which brings you to an email submission form for feedback. Which is something I should've implemented to my client's site that way you can learn what you need to do to accommodate for an audience its useful.
Both sites have their pros and cons, but I prefer Steves website due to how vibrant and beautiful the layout is compared to what I created for Jess but that's just my own opinion. It's not about me at all it's about the artist and if it works for them that’s all that matters!
Overall, I enjoyed this project and I am happy with what I have achieved.
My client said this about her finished website now that it’s all done and published.
Jessica really liked the colour scheme of her website, the salmon pink
background goes well with the yellow and black text. It’s simple and easy to
read with the chosen font and the text is bold but not to bold that its in your
face and takes over the page. The site is easy to navigate, and it gives you a
clear understanding of where to go for certain information.
